Off with their heads!
The debate about reforming the House of Lords has dragged on for over a hundred years and the three main political parties are apparently now haggling over whether there should be a referendum on it, what proportion of the second chamber should be elected and by what system.
This is all in sharp contrast to the English Republic. Charles I was executed on 30th January 1649, the House of Lords abolished on 6th February and the monarchy on the 7th. Abolish the House of Lords and the monarchy! Up the Republic!
