By reading French novels after leaving school, I managed to keep up that knowledge pretty well. <br /><br />German, I don't really know how I learned. I started converting Dutch to German to communicate with my in-laws, then read a few German books. At a certain point, I realised that I could actually speak German.<br /><br />What I've noticed is that I'm much better at understanding a conversation in French than in German and more comfortable chatting. Though I can understand more of a newspaper in French than in German.<br /><br />If I'm honest, my knowledge of German grammar is pretty minimal and I'd struggle to write in it unaided.Ron Pattinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03095189986589865751noreply@blogger.com
